Mae Richardson Elementary School was a recipient of the Seismic Rehabilitation Grant

The district received $1.5M to structurally tie the roof, walls, and foundation in the gymnasium and main office building. Due to the complexity and short time frame to complete the work, we began planning in June 2018. By establishing design, estimating and constructability milestones early, the design team and CM|GC were able to schedule resources to accomplish the work. This project was one of the first projects to bid for summer work, with bids due mid-January. With work under contract, HMK, the design team and CM|GC were able to begin submittals, answer RFIs and procure long-lead items before work began. Additionally, asbestos abatement and selective demolition was able to occur during spring break. The project was completed in mid-August, one week before teachers returned. Additionally, the project was under budget, which allowed the district to accomplish more seismic rehabilitation than initially expected.
