HMK was hired to assist and oversee the projects, one year after the bond had passed and work began. Our first task was to negotiate contracts with design professionals and establish budgets for the projects. The program includes over 30 projects at the district’s five schools. Most notably is the replacement of 100,000SF at the high school. This challenging project required multiple phases and bid packages to strategically build the new portion of building, without displacing students. Then, finally, renovating the remaining building and seismically reinforcing. The new space includes a CTE wing, with Culinary Arts, Agriculture, Art (pottery, spray booths, etc.), Business and Marketing, Metal, Auto Shop, and Pet Tech. Additionally, the new portion will have new general education classrooms, science, special education, main office, library and cafeteria/commons.
