The partnership between Central Point School District and Direct Involvement Recreation Teaching played a pivotal role in
materializing this visionary endeavor. Within the confines of a 27,248 square foot industrial foundry, CraterWorks Makers Space has emerged as a beacon of creativity.

CraterWorks now stands as a thriving member-based maker space, offering a diverse array of amenities such as CNC fabrication, laser-cutting, 3-D printing, steel fabrication, wood shop, metal studio, and a cutting-edge commercial kitchen for licensed culinary production. Adapting the existing structure to accommodate these resources presented a unique design challenge, necessitating a delicate balance between preserving the building’s character and optimizing functionality. The innovative utilization of Cross-Laminated Timber in Southern Oregon not only showcases ingenuity but also highlights the region’s strong ties to its timber heritage, laying the groundwork for economic advancement and local cohesion.

By transcending conventional boundaries between education and professional realms, CraterWorks cultivates a collaborative
environment accessible to individuals of all ages within the Central Point community.
